Placing Inspiration

Finding the edges???

R.Perkins's avatarR. Perkins Blog

Sometimes, I leave notes for myself in places I may one day revisit. Sorta like my own personal fortune cookies. Some are funny, some blunt, others are strange–thought proving–forcing my imagination into high gear. Whatever wisdom they provide, they almost always inspire me in some way. They make me laugh (who doesn’t need that?), ponder the weird, pull me out of a funk, or just make a good day…better.

I like to push beyond my comfort-zone–do things differently, or just do something new entirely. There’s adventure beyond known boundaries. Also, the unexpected. I don’t know if I’m an enthusiastic explorer of the unknown, or if I’m just clumsy. Either way, my life requires lots of band-aids. Still, it’s a lot of fun.

The world surprises us with many opportunities for inspiration, but occasionally, it’s up to us to find…

Hoover Dam

On the western flank of the Hoover Dam stands a little-understood monument, commissioned by the US Bureau of Reclamation when construction of the dam began in 01931. The most noticeable parts of this corner of the dam, now known as Monument Plaza, are the massive winged bronze sculptures and central flagpole which are often photographed by visitors. The most amazing feature of this plaza, however, is under their feet as they take those pictures.

The plaza’s terrazzo floor is actually a celestial map that marks the time of the dam’s creation based on the 25,772-year axial precession of the earth…

Make Merry While Ye May

So, we’re not throwing bedrolls in the back of the pick-up in December and heading out to search for Forrest Fenn’s hidden treasure, but we are enjoying the season.

Another Searcher in Need of a Hand: A “Go Fund Me” For Charissa… — Thrill Of The Chase

October 2018 by an anonymous friend Good Evening Everyone. Many people have asked how to donate (in smaller amounts) to Charissa and Marti. Forrest Fenn Turns 88 Today

To the man who hid a treasure chest in the Rockies:

Happy Birthday, Forrest!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 5 years since a birthday wish for Forrest turned into an invitation to visit his place in Santa Fe. Fascinating man. Astounding collections. I treasure the memory.
